Summer Surf Camp is a great way to spoil your family, friends or colleagues and ignite a lifelong passion. And while there are many destination surf camps out there catering to the accomplished surfer, there are very few fully focused on comprehensively shaping the beginner. Soul Surfing Maui has developed a unique 5-Day Camp set up for doing just that!
This is simply the coolest "Learn To Surf Camp" in Hawaii. Owner Brian DeCook is hands-on with his guests, surfing everyday day with them in the most beautiful setting imaginable. Maui offers ideal conditions and there are a variety of waves to ride for all levels. Surf crowds on Maui are thin, and the ocean is crystal-clear and warm year round. This is an epic 'learn how to' vacation destination and no experience is required to attend. Soul Surfing Maui is co-ed, open to all ages, and accepts a maximum of only 8 surfers per week to ensure the highest level of personal service.
Surf Camp guests can expect a very private and exclusive 5 day surf experience. The Oceanfront Villa accommodations are cozy and well-appointed, and fully guided 4x4 transportation is provided. The Soul Surfing Maui team are professional, humble, and trained by owner Brian DeCook personally to make sure all your needs are met. These guides do a great job and take guests to see much more than just ideal surf spots. Safari hikes to secret waterfalls, kayaking, snorkeling secluded bays with giant Sea Turtles, dining around Maui's top restaurants, and meeting' local legend 'surfboard designers to experience the whole design process are just a few of the extra-curricular activities you can expect while a guest here. The SSM crew is extremely motivated to see you have an truly memorable trip, and will make sure that you get a good taste of what the “Maui surfer lifestyle” is all about!
Camp guests are taught at low stress surf locations where there is plenty of room to learn and you don't have to worry about being in the way of other more experienced local surfers. It is not necessary to bring or rent a board for your stay, as all equipment, including surf boards tailored to your skill level, are provided. The SSM style of instruction is thorough and comprehensive, and all of Brian's instructors pride themselves in knowing how to coach with a smile. Water safety, surf etiquette, wave selection, positioning, stance and style are topics of the day. SSM coaches will identify your personal strengths and weaknesses, then show you how to overcome and improve; eliminating bad habits before they start and improving skills at an accelerated pace. By the end of just one week, SSM promises to have you surfing at a level that will most certainly surpass your prior expectations. Caution: It is not unusual to see first time surfers get so stoked during their stay that they buy a new board, extend their trip and write a whole new life plan!
